SHEEBA SHAH hails from Kathmandu, and is the author of three novels — Beyond the Illusions, Facing My Phantoms and The Other Queen. The Other Queen is a bestselling work of historical fiction in English, and also in Nepali, in which it sold over 5,000 copies in the first year of publication. All three novels are being studied by M.Phil. students for their theses in Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. She currently lives in Goa, India.
PROF. ARUN GUPTO is the Director of Comparativism at the South Asian Foundation for Academic Research (SAFAR), and the Academic Director at Institute of Advanced Communication, Education, and Research (IACER), both based in Kathmandu. He is engaged in the Rethinking South Asian Studies project that critiques the existing modes of area studies as the research cuts across the conventional and hegemonic discourses of regionalism. Some of his books include Goddesses of Kathmandu Valley: Grace, Rage, Knowledge (Routledge, 2017); Theory and Criticism: Recent Writings from South Asia (Routledge, 2022); Seasons of the Divine (Rupa, 2024). He has produced documentaries such as Art of the Lake (2011), Art and the City (2021), and Anger and the Mahatma (2023). His forthcoming book, Cracks in the Wind: Memoirs from Lumbini, is going to be published this year by Rupa (India).
ALFA M. SHAKYA is a writer, researcher and podcaster. She is the producer and host of How’d You Create That? — an art podcast about the creative process. For Alfa, writing is a medium through which she explores her curiosities and questions. She also occasionally illustrates and sings, and has a Higher Diploma in Writing & Research from The Open Institute for Social Science. She is also an award-winning Toastmaster.
